The Duke and I (Bridgertons, #1) by Julia Quinn

The Duke and I (Bridgertons, #1)The Duke and I by Julia Quinn
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

FINALLY I finished a damn Julia Quinn book.
this author is so elusive to me..I’ve started and stopped at least 4 of her books and finally I finished one. Rare for me because for some reason I desperately wanna like this author’s books. I always feel like I”m missing out and man idk if im sold

this was a very light and airy sort of book. I didn’t really like the way it was written…I’m so used to the perfect prose and plotting of Lisa Kleypas and the amazing humor and quirkiness of Tessa Dare that this paled in comparison.
I really don’t see all of the praise… I didn’t think it was funny…I don’t see the Jane Austen esque of it at all. I felt like many of the situations were a tad forced and the whole last 20 percent of the book omg what ridiculousness.
the characters weren’t very dimensional..thats such a pet peeve of mine…yes they had their back story and everything but they just were missing so much for me…they didn’t come alive, I didn’t sympathize with them..didn’t feel for them.

I do like the family, I love them together they’re so interesting ( I have a fondness for historical families because of my queen lisa kleypas and the hathaways)

idk …I guess I’ll continue but I’m doing it because Im searching for this julia quinn magic that everyone raves about.
It might be too early to say but I dont get why sooo many people when they think about historical romance..instantly they say Julia Quinn………………………………. how is this dribble of a book more popular than Wicked Intentions by Elizabeth Hoyt which is masterful or ANY Tessa Dare book………………………………
