Kissing Tolstoy (Dear Professor, #1)Kissing Tolstoy by Penny Reid

Lord help me this book was like crack.

“You infect me, body and soul, with primitive thoughts of claiming and conquering. I do not know who I am when I touch you. I am no longer civilized, I am blood and heat and lust. I barely recognize myself.”

I’ve only ever felt this happy reading one other book and that’s The Hating Game by Sally Thorne.

My cheeks hurt from grinning; I’ve highlighted so much Luca just made by list of best book boyfriends.

This book is about Anna, a quirky, nerdy girl who mistakenly emails the wrong person to ask him out on a date……the guy shows up they have a great time but she bolts! Before the date is over after he comes clean and tells her that she emailed the wrong person, but he was so charmed by her email he decided to show up anyways.

The guys name is Luca Kroft and he’s sexy leather wearing big, broad, Russian Lit professor….HER Russian lit professor. And she had no idea until she shows up to her much anticipated class and it’s the guy she bailed on from her date!

This was just so much fun so much gush!

“Men who ride motorcycles and wear leather like a second skin, and look hot doing it, they don’t date ladies who idolize Tolstoy. Tuesday night is trivia night for me, unless I have a new jigsaw puzzle I’m excited about or I’m in my tragic novel reading cave.”

Anna is so endearing! She loves puzzles, trivia night, tragic romance novels and Russian literature. She’s so incredibly down to earth and sweet and very opinionated! She’s also Bi- Racial. Ughghgh I love her. I loved absolutely everything about her. Penny Reid does such a fantastic job making a heroine that I’m always a bit taken aback when I read her books. They’re always so distinctly quirky. Thank god for that because I’m beyond tired of nice blonde heroines.

“She smells like wildflowers and quiet libraries, redolent of peace and excuberance.”

Ok Lets talk about Professor Luca Kroft. Aka F**** me Papi *pretend that’s in Russian* have you ever met a guy and just known right away that you wanna sit on their face…yea that’s how I feel about Luca. He made me tingly…everything that came out of his mouth made me melt and him and Anna are my O fucking T P. They are literally made for each other. He’s big blonde and blue eyed and just a manly nerd..I don’t know how to explain it. He’s so witty and passionate, he’s all heart and soul and he just doesn’t know what to do when Anna’s equal wit and passion fall into his life…I ate it up.

Alright, I’m just babbling because I just finished this book and I feel so lost. This book was my missing puzzle piece and now I have to go read Russian Literature and cry over my precious babies.

Royally Endowed (Royally, #3) by Emma Chase

Royally Endowed (Royally, #3)Royally Endowed by Emma Chase
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

“Because he’s gorgeous, but even more than that—he makes me feel wanted. Valued and important, like I’m someone worth protecting. Knowing this man would give his life to shield me, guard me from pain or danger—it’s a heady thing. An arousing, stirring thing. “

3.5 “The Bodyguard” stars.

This was so enjoyable! I adore Emma Chase’s Royally series it honestly has a special place in my heart at this point. Its just the perfect blend of funny, sweet, romantic and steamy coupled with smooth and steady writing. I was highly anticipating this book and it was good!

This book is about Ellie Hammond, Olivia’s sister from the first book and her romance with the royal bodyguard Logan St. James. Their story takes place over a couple of years (Ellie is 17 and Logan is 22 dw nothing happens until later) where we get to see how they slowly but surely started and grew their romance.

The pacing of this book was so great, at least for the first half of the book. I love reading about them when they were younger and watching everything just grow. I enjoy the Dual POV, thats my book catnip.

But sadly enough I started to disconnect from the story around halfway to 2/3 into the book. Around the time the whole secondary conflict rolled around. It was so cringe to me MILD SPOILER –>(there was a crazy stalker guy threatening Olivia and co. ) This conflict cheapened the the rest of the book for me 😦 It made things seem like a bad lifetime movie.

I also felt like there was something missing with Logan’s character. But at the same time I think I would have enjoyed this book at a different this is a classic case of “its not you its me” because I did rather enjoy it.

Besides the bad plot devices I loved Ellie’s character, it was a highlight for me. I really sympathized with her. Every time that she talked about how Logan made her feel safe and cared for in the beginning I honestly shed a tear.

I loved being with her on her journey from teen to adult.. all the while longing for Logan it was so sweet. This was a cute conclusion the the series ❤
We get to see a lot of action from the previous couples as well which was a huge plus.

I’d give the beginning of the book 4.5 stars and the rest 2.5 so it averages out to 3.5 total.

Devil’s Cut (The Bourbon Kings, #3) by J.R. Ward

Devil's Cut (The Bourbon Kings, #3)Devil’s Cut by J.R. Ward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 “Bourbon, Kentucky, Lies and Love” stars

Wow! Just wow! If this is how the Warden does finales…I’m on fucking board ya’ll!

Ok so Devils Cut takes place right after Angel’s Share (The second installment in the trilogy) so I can’t say much on the plot because it’s all just a continuous spoiler at this point.

I’ll start off by saying that this is the first time The Warden has given us a finale…her other series are still going on so that’s was a new thing for her and it didn’t disappoint.

A lot of people are hesitant in picking this up, because it’s so unlike her other series and also because they’re just used to JR ruling and rocking the PNR world.

But honestly, this series just cannot be missed. Period. FULL STOP.

I enjoyed this immensely! The first chapter was gripping and engrossing. JR’s magnificent atmosphere building made an appearance in this book, as usual; so all three books are of the same quality in writing. This book is very much..a last book it just feels like you’re at the end of puzzle and you think you already know everything you need to know and then BAM another reveal BAM BAM BAMMM. This book was nonstop REVEALS so many secrets that were being kept throughout the first 2 books reached their peak in this book. There was no lapse and no warning its just reveal, secret reveal, her reveal, his reveal….oh you thought this ….SYKE ..oh you thought you knew he was..oh SKYEEEEEEE oh you think I’ve surprised you well guess again. That’s is was I think JR’s inner monologue was like while writing lol.

This book focuses a lot on the whole Samuel T stuff (I’m being vague because or spoilers) and I’m very happy how everything turned out but I do feel like this was such a big part of this book that other couples’ HEA had to be compromised. For example, Edward and Sutton, out of all the couples in this series, this one is near and dear to my heart. Compared to the destruction and dysfunctional angst of Gin and Samuel T and the Romeo and Juliet romance of Liz and Lane; Edward and Sutton transcend all of them. They were the only couple who was never a couple and the tension is amazing, coupled with Edwards current state..oh my. Every Edward and Sutton POV in all three books I was at the edge of my seat and with this book I couldn’t wait to see the progression to their HEA..but all we got was 1 fucking meeting between them and then the next was the HEA> excuse me…QUE that was so disappointing! I wanted so much more. Don’t get me wrong I’m over the moon that they’re finally together and happy but damn we got so much of liz and lane and even wayyy more of Max and Tanesha ( Max who just showed up in the end of the last book!!!) and just that little bit of the best couple..hands down..I was aggravated to say the least. I was going to 3 stars until the book made me cry.

JR really threw some curve balls with this book, you can so tell that everything was nicely planned before she even wrote the first book.
Yea, I cried twice. Each time at the Samuel T story line; it was very personal to me and it was all just amazing. Its sad that I won’t ever get to read about the Bradfords, there is defiantly potential for a spin off or novellas with so many couples but this conclusion was top notch so good. If you’ve been waiting for the series to be complete before starting…you have no excuse now..Go and DEVOUR.

Neanderthal Seeks Human (Knitting in the City, #1) by Penny Reid

Neanderthal Seeks Human (Knitting in the City, #1)Neanderthal Seeks Human by Penny Reid
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 ” Janie and Quinn 4evah” stars

Penny Reid is the author I have always dreamed about.
the one that I know I would be if I ever became talented over night and wrote a novel.

but alas that will never happen so thank the book gods that I have her.
but for serious..she writes the books that imagine in my head I would write.
with quirky adorkable heriones and alpha males…ughghg shes my spirit animal and I love her

I know Im gushing but just listen shes my other half.
she knits (Just like me!)
she writes awesome..shes a nerd what more could I want from an author..
she also gave me Martin Sandeke…and now basically I owe her my arm.

but this book was adorable. Janie reminded me so much of myself that it freaked me out.
with her knowledge of trivial things (which is a bizare trait of mine..I always know weird things no one else does and I blather them out when im uncomfterable or bored because i hate social situations.)
im always labeling things and categorizing people/things just like Janie…but not in a judgmental way I promise…so, in short, reading this was surreal because it was me lol

Quinn was awesome but I did feel that he wasn’t as dimensional as Janie if that makes sense..he seems so monotone and stoic…i couldnt picture him right…

but the whole knitting group omg I WANT THAT
as soon as I read that i started searching for ones near me because I don’t know anyone else who knits besides me and their whole relationship made me long for one of my own..the whole concept is awesome and cute and so unlike anything else thats in other books out there.

Let me talk about Chicago for a second…(another weird affinity I have for this book)
I’ve always wanted to move there…seriously my friends always tease me about it cuz I talk about it so much so reading this book that was set there with a girl that was like my spirit animal….lets just say I was weird-ed out and excited.

I loved the epilogue in Quinn’s POv!!!! it really was able to show another side of him that isn’t clear in Janie’s POV and im exited to read the next one 1.5 all about them getting engaged and married

Thank you Penny Reid; soul sister

Chicago, knitting, books, love,

Bad Romeo (Starcrossed, #1) by Leisa Rayven

Bad Romeo (Starcrossed, #1)Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I knew I loved it from the first chapter
but god I didn’t know what I was in for.

this hit all of my buttons all of my feelings
I’ve had this type of connection with someone before. it was painful reading this because everything cassie was going through I went through
from hate to love but always cosmic connection always this soul bending pull.

reading this made me realize how cheap all the five stars I’ve given away have been
because they were just masses of sex with peppered feeling and plot

but this THIS was a book

im sitting here crying because this book unstitched me
Ethan and Cassie did me in
I’ve never read about a connection like this one
seeing them together is deeply personal to me now

the last chapter of this book was the most perfect chapter I have ever read in my whole life..I am not saying that lightly
it was like watching a movie. the timing of everything the emotions

his email at the end was the most romantic declaration I’ve ever read even more intense tham Captain Wentworth’s letter from Persuasion.

this was an experience.

I was so heavy in love with this book that I stopped at 12 percent to make a playlist because I was heavy with feels.

if you wanna read this, are thinking about it or have check out my playlist —>…

Because honestly all these feels you will feel need a fucking playlist.

The Bourbon Kings (The Bourbon Kings #1)The Bourbon Kings by J.R. Ward
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 southern charm stars

wow what a damn ride. This book is on a class by itself imo! The only way I can describe it is if Shonda Rimes and J.R Ward wrote a show set in the south. ITS THAT FUCKING GOOD. After about 15 percent maybe even sooner you’re just thrown into this world of glam, tradition, class and secrets. AKA my favorite kind of crack.
The character shine so much in this book which is something JR does Impeccably. Theres a lot of characters but it never gets confusing their POV are just so interesting you wont be able to pick a favorite.

I LOVED THE STORY this was just so well put together. the setting! omg I’ve always loved reading books and watching shows set in the south but this made me wanna go down there so bad! JR infuses the book with so much southern local color and on top of that you learn about Bourbon! I loved it

This book remeinded me so much of this amazing TV show from Spain called “El hotel de los secretos” but set in a southern mansion in now times!

I’m so excited that this is gunna be a TV show I just hope they don’t fuck it up.

Also omg the couples in this book fuck me I loved them it had such OTP couples from the sabrina type to the romeo and juliet type to the Caleb and Olivia type theres so much in here I can’t

and excited to know even more about the bradfords!

Where do I begin

I had the best time reading this!!! This series is just gold I defiantly liked this one more than the first one!
There is so much that went on so many feels and awesomeness so I’ll just sum it up the best I can 🙂

So Elizabeth is Janie’s BFF and Roomie, shes also an Emergency Room doctor

 photo 63a84b55bd3277fc872ecd3dedb7a343_zps9qgdbpfo.jpg

one day when shes’s doing her rounds…she gets a blast from her past

Nico Mangianeillo

 photo 4c22ba8dbeee643df83452fe92cd11e3_zpstruklkh8.jpg

sexy, hilarious, famous guy who has his own TV show
who was also Elizabeth’s childhood friend and also nemisis

lets just say shes shocked to see him and it goes both ways..its tense

Nico wants answers…they have a past. a deep emotional past that was left and abandoned

 photo 38bb7fe17f1ba14a270963a9deef5a61_zpselx2veav.jpg

Nico wants answers and Elizabeth is an award winning avoid er

But Elizabeth doesn’t know a lot of things about their past..the thing is can she stop avoiding and face her fears?
things are awesome, intense, funny and just Penny Reid awesome.

I loved Elizabeth she was Boy Band obsessed so funny with her pranks on her co workers and all around award winning avoider (just like yours truly)

Nico made me melt his declarations were some of the best I’ve ever read.
the whole book (seriously can’t stop Praising cuz it was THAT good) was funny and intense at the same time

I’m proud to say I worship at the alter of Penny Reidism
