My rating: 5 of 5 stars

so many stars 5 +++++++

where do I begin?
hmmmmmm do you like Historical Romances?
Do you like books with complex characters and mature poetic prose?
do you like SEX AND I MEAN S E X sexy 1700s dirty dark sex?
do you like mutitple POV with side characters that are just as and even more complex than the MCs?
then fucking A pick this up please

not only was this enjoyable dark sexy and and refreshing it also had a fucking murder mystery dafuq more do you want honestly??????

I’m in awe at this it was so unlike soo many HR’s that I’ve read ..the writing was so mature and pleasant I loved it. I frequently get bored with HR because they all tend to blend together but this was so so unique!

to top it off the little header or whatever its called of every chapter had an ongoing little story (I’ve never read something like that before in any book!)

this read like a TV show! in the vain of Poldark
I really dont understand how this only has 3.88 rating on Goodreads it should have at least 4.78
this is spectacular

Its so common in HR to have a light and airy tone and common tropes, which is to be expected
its another thing altogether to have a HR book in 1700s thats dark and grity that reads like a TV show has bdsm style sexy times that left me all types of hot and bothered and have deep convoluted side characters whose POV we get to read.

this book should get an altogether distinct praise for its CHARACTERS
do you ever get the feeling, when you read a book that you’re inside someones life just taking a peek and you forget that they aren’t real?
yea….this happens in this book ALL THE TIME
its so easy when reading to tell yourself this is a story, these are fictional characters
but this book didn’t feel like I was reading a book this felt so real! As if Elizabeth Hoyt was writing real actual people, little slices of life
its masterful
